Between false & true claims
Between false & true claims Written by kareem alkazak Tuesday, 08 February 2011 04:04 One of the things that the western -so called- civilization does not know anything about is the truth about religion. This is because they had a bad experience with Christianity and before that they considered “religious” equal to “mystical”, it was nothing but myths and superstitions, or -any better- philosophies and man-made system of values. Throughout the Greek and the Romans, religion had some kind of human establishment. And they did not really have anything to do with understanding the true concept of a Deity or God, except the stories made up by their priests and poets. They were pagans, and their concepts had nothing to do with the truth about issues like: life and death, the beginning and the end of existence, afterlife, the Supreme Being and Ruler of this creation and so on. But they had natural questions that keep bugging every human about these things, and they made up some answers for it which they thought it was reasonable and accordingly true. And they started teaching it as if it was facts like other facts of life. But did they have any proof or evidences about it? They were all just theories achieved by human intellects, and which later some are being discussed and gone through to be proven false. The only thing that they try to do is to keep it reasonable as much as they can: the more reasonable it would seem the more accurate it should be and truthful! But real independent evidence to be built upon: not a chance. And this would not affect that state that it should be considered and respected, because simply you have hundreds and hundreds of other choices which you can choose from. So no need for the whole human kind to be convinced for me to follow something and to claim that it IS true, it IS reasonable and I DO believe in that. This perspective about religion is still among most of the western philosophers and academics; they consider what they call a “religious experience” something unreasonable and that it is normal for religion to have unreasonable ideas. To them Religion has always been symbolic and not real. It is an insightful way of motivating the followers to become more moral and respectful. So, whomsoever who would be able to achieve that with whatever means it’s no problem: the Truth is to be reached by many ways! –they claim. They consider the religious experience as emotional experience; it does not have to be reasonable it is just there. And it is enough for the one who believes that it is true to feel it’s true to know that it IS. It differs from one person to another so it’s a point of view, nothing universal about it. Yet still some people kind of feel offended when someone would try to prove their beliefs wrong or unreasonable accordingly of course accusing them –themselves- of being unreasonable and no one likes to be called a blind ignorant follower who is being deceived with his own free choice. And I have to say that religion is not like emotions, at least when you claim that there is another existing being who communicates and is asking and commanding and will punish if not followed and saying that this is true. You are simply obligating people to do things that –normally- they don’t like doing and you say it is ok to be unreasonable about it? Then you would be considered whether you are a liar or you’re insane. The other thing that ruined the western interpretation about religion was Christianity, and I mean the one taught by Paul, not the one taught by Jesus (peace be upon him). These teachings of Paul were also an example of unreasonably claims of facts that he did NOT have any kind of evidence except that HE SAID SO. Actually, it is very rare to find someone in the west who would understand Religion as Islam teaches it: That it is a system of beliefs motivating the followers to execute the best deeds humans can achieve for the sake of glorifying the Creator on this life, till the day that they would meet Him again to be questioned about them being obedient or not, them accepting the truth or not, and them being honest and sincere about it or not. Discussing with every little issue abo ut it according to firm proves, starting from the existence of the Creator and his attributes and his likes and dislikes and his teachings to His servants and the promises He promised them and the warnings that He advised them. To come in the end to have a follower, who would say when he is being asked about it: “… and here is my evidence” {إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللَّـهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَرْتَابُوا وَجَاهَدُوا بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِۚأُولَـٰئِكَ هُمُ الصَّادِقُونَ} [الحجرات:15] “The believers are only the ones who have believed in Allah and His Messenger and then doubt not but strive with their properties and their lives in the cause of Allah. It is those who are the truthful.” [Al-Hujurat: 15]
